The Mount Titlis- Where Angles Come To Play

After a day of stay at the Hilton hotel near Zurich airport, we started our journey to the greatest mountains on the earth, the Mount Titlis.

About Mount Titils : Titlis is a mountain of the Uri Alps, located on the border between the cantons of Obwalden and Berne in Switzerland. At 3,238 metres above sea level, it is the highest summit of the range north of the Susten Pass, between the Bernese Oberland and Central Switzerland. It is mainly accessed from Engelberg (Obwalden) on the north side and is famous as the site of the world's first revolving cable car. The cable car system connects Engelberg to the summit of Klein Titlis (3,028 m) through the three stages of

Gerschnialp (1,262 m)
Trübsee (1,796 m) and
Stand (2,428 m).

It is one of the largest rotating cable cars of the world. The internal rotating plate gives 360 degree of the breath taking scenic views of the world.

Heart beat slows down as the cable car ascends, and you forget about the fact that if you fall, none of the piece of your body will be found. In drizzle rain, the monsoonic look of mount Titlis is eye catchy.

The cattle grazing fields, which we see only in discovery channel or in movies are found here , and exclusively here. Every time you reach a stage, you need to change the car.The last stage would have a rotating cable car.

Following the greenary, the snow covered mountains look gigantic.
Third Stage, the “Rotair”, with more space to move around, you don’t need to hurry up finding your best view point next to the window, instead, the whole saucer-like container moves 360 degrees as we start our upward journey and brings you right in front of your eyes mind-blowing Landscapes. Your adventurous spirit wakes up as we reach the last final stage. A sign welcomes you at 3028 mts with the name “Klein Titlis”. From here, all you have to do is to enjoy the alpine air and scenery.

It is chilling cold, sun shines but warms little in a still peaceful morning, with a drizzle rain. Slowly, crowds of tourist move to the terraces and its panoramic views. Engelberg is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Switzerland during the whole year.

We then rode on the ‘Ice Flyer’, another popular tourist attraction. Basically it is a roller coaster that runs over the Alps range at intimidating speeds. The thrilling ride left us gasping and yet at the same time we fought to keep our eyes open, to soak in the mesmerising scenery that encompassed us.

On reaching Mt. Titlis the level of infrastructural development present there left me stunned.

The structure had five levels each leading to a different attraction, be it a coffee shop overlooking the glacier, or a specially designed walk where one could climb to the top of the glacier. The top itself was absolutely mesmerising. The experiences of holding snow in our hands, playing with it and even falling on it made this trip extremely special. It was a memorable experience.
